# Sync your diary with your calendar app

> Subscribe to your Bloom diary from Apple Calendar, Outlook or Google Calendar, and keep it up to date automatically.

Bloom gives you a private subscription link for your diary. Add it to the
calendar app you already use and your sessions and blocked time appear
alongside everything else, kept up to date automatically.

## How the sync works

The sync is one way. Bloom sends your diary to your calendar app, and your
calendar app updates when Bloom changes.

<Warning>
  Changes you make in your calendar app do not reach Bloom. To move, add or
  cancel a session, always use Bloom. Anything you edit in the other app is
  ignored and overwritten on the next refresh.
</Warning>

Your calendar shows your appointments (except cancelled ones) and your blocked
time. It never includes fees, payment status, notes, client contact details or
anything a client could use to join a session.

## Find your link

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your settings">
    Go to **Settings**, then **Calendar**, then **Calendar
    sync**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy your link">
    Under **Subscribe from your calendar app**, select **Copy link**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Keep this link private. Anyone with it can see your diary. If you ever share
  it by mistake, use **Rotate link** to replace it (see [Rotate your
  link](#rotate-your-link) below).
</Warning>

  calendars will not be as far behind.
</Note>

## Choose how clients appear

You decide how clients are named in your calendar titles. This applies wherever
your diary is synced.

Under **How clients appear in your calendar**, choose one:

* **Initials** (the default). A session reads **Session with J.S.**
* **Full name**. A session reads **Session with Jane Smith**.
* **No client details**. A session reads **Session**.

<Tip>
  Your calendar app may show up on a shared screen or a lock screen. Initials
  keep client names out of it.
</Tip>

Your choice saves as soon as you select it. The next time your calendar app
refreshes, the titles change to match.

## Rotate your link

If your link is ever shared or you want a fresh one, select **Rotate link**,
then confirm. Your old link stops working straight away.

<Warning>
  Your calendar apps will stop updating until you subscribe again with the new
  link. Copy the new link and repeat the steps above for each app.
